Free push email for your iPhone; plus your Outlook Contacts, Calendar and Notes

by Sully Syed on June 9, 2008

In March of 2008, Apple and Microsoft announced a new agreement to offer built-in support for Microsoft Exchange on the iPhone. Today, June 9th 2008, the firmware update that will enable this feature is set to be released at the WorldWide Developer Conference 2008 (WWDC 2008). So what does this mean to you as an iPhone owner?

  • On-the-road access to your Contacts: Your e-mail address book and information storage for the people and businesses you want to communicate with
  • View and add/modify items in your Calendar: The calendar and scheduling component of Outlook that’s fully integrated with e-mail, contacts, and other features
  • Real-time, over the air synchronization for your e-mail, contacts, tasks and calendar items via Microsoft ActiveSync
  • Protect your business via customizable security policies: Includes the ability to remotely wipe all data from a lost or stolen iPhone, and to require security provisions for e-mail such as a password or PIN access

How does mail2web.com fit into all of this? One of our most popular product offerings is mail2web LIVE, a free personal Microsoft Exchange 2003 account with ActiveSync technology, which keeps your Apple iPhone up to date with e-mail, contacts, private calendar, tasks, and more!

Apple says nothing about Tasks being included or Notes in the activesync over the air. Can you confirm?

That’s correct, Tasks and Notes are not pushed.
I bought my new iPhone yesterday and it works perfectly with my mail2web LIVE-Account. Thank you mail2web! :-)

Is there a way to show a different reply to address? I would like our mail to look as it originated from our main email address.

Works, but not REAL push. takes a few min to arrive. sometimes slower then the 15min fetch…. many times in a day you will see an error “cant access mailbox at the time”.

I upgraded my 1.1.3 iPhone to 2.0 to check all these new features out. I’m LOVING the Push email! It works perfectly with my gmail accounts.

4DC- I added my other email addresses to my iPhone and reply from my gmail instead of the mail2web account. I just use my mail2web account for the alert.

5PDFX1- I get my gmail emails in about 30 seconds.
