Update Regarding Domain Name Phishing Scams

October 31st, 2008

By Tim Attwood

We have recently been made aware of a phishing scam targeting domain name owners who have registered their domain name through Network Solutions. The phishing attempt attempts to fool domain name owners into visiting a fake website that looks like Network Solutions and providing their login details. This fake site then captures the username and password and the scammers will then attempt to take possession of the domain name for themselves.

For more information regarding this phishing scam, we encourage you to read our full posting on the myhosting.com Blog. Read the rest of this entry »

October 7th, 2008

By GadgetManiac

Steve Wozniak of Apple Inc fame predicts the demise and eventual death of the iPod. Steve sez all good things must come to an end, and iPods and iPhones will join transistor radios and Walkmans in the ash heap of history.

While iPods are getting stale and the iPhone is too proprietary, Woz suggests that the mysterious iWatch is the one to watch.

Eee PCs Flying off the Shelves

October 6th, 2008

By GadgetManiac

DigiTimes reports that Asus moved 700,000 Eee PCs in September of this year. Thats a lot of netbooks, and management must be happy. There are about a dozen different variations of the Eee PC theme ranging from 7 to 10 inch screens, with more models on the way, such as the ASUS Eee PC 904HA.

In the current economic climate namely ” It’s really scary what’s going on out there“, with the S&P 500 Index closing at 1,056.89 down 28% YTD, it’s probably safe to say that while PC sales will be below expectations, netbooks, with their low prices, will almost certainly gain market share.

Three touch screen phones compared…

Nokia announced their Nokia 5800 Xpress Music 640×360 touch screen phone (above) a few days ago… also called the Tube, this music phone comes with the Nokia Comes With Music 1-year no limits music subscription service. The Tube/5800 will be available later this year, specs here.

And then there’s the T-Mobile G1 Android-based 480×320 touch screen mobile phone, available in a few weeks on October 22 2008.

TechRader compares the 5800 and the G1 to the original touch screen phone, the Apple iPhone. Areas of comparison were Home screen, media, OS, internet, gaming, camera, maps, texting and email. The verdict: a tie between the G1 and the iPhone.

Amazon Kindle 2

October 4th, 2008

By GadgetManiac

BoyGenius presents what is probably the new Kindle e-book reader. The Kindle 2 is apparently longer and wider than the original, but thinner. It has better buttons, a joystick, recharge by miniUSB and downloads via EV-DO.

…seemingly unsullied by professional product designers.

Lamborghini Estoque

October 3rd, 2008

By GadgetManiac

Lamborghini introduced their new Estoque at 2008 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris a few days ago. Lamborghini president Stephan Winkelmann states that the Estoque is a ‘prototype’, and it’s “for everyday use”.

Not a bad-looking sports car considering it’s an AWD four-door four-seater. The front-end grill and air dams define it as a Lambo for sure, but the side view bespeaks a different influence…Jaguar C-XF perhaps?
