For some time now we have been running a SharePoint Designer promotion which provided a free boxed copy of Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2007 for free along with 1 year Windows SharePoint Hosting Services 3.0 for $12.50/month with 1 year commitment. And we were getting ready to wind the promotion down, as our supplies of SharePoint Designer have been dwindling recently.
However as some of you may already know, Microsoft has recently made SharePoint Designer 2007 a free download. Now everyone is free to try SharePoint Designer with their SharePoint site and see what all the talk is about. If you you have a SharePoint 3.0 account with us, but haven’t yet tried SharePoint Designer, we recommend you give it a whirl. And even though we will no longer be mailing boxed software, we have decided to keep our SharePoint Designer promotion running. So if you haven’t tried SharePoint already, now is the perfect time to get started.

That was the offer directly from SharePoint last year. Not sure if its still available, but check out their site for more info and downloads.
I am excited by this offer: SharePoint Designer has been one of my favorite programs since it first hit the market.
I wonder why Microsoft would make Designer 2007 free. I thought it sold pretty well. Maybe it was to make room for a new version.
