It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the new mail2web.com. If you are reading this we have successfully re-launched mail2web.com with a brand new look. For the last few months, we have been working hard behind the scenes to update the web site from the ground up. As we neared the launch date, things got pretty hectic with all the user testing, last minute changes, and bug fixes. It took us one last big push to put all the pieces together and here we are with the new mail2web.com for all to see!
We’ve made several major changes with this update. I’d like to highlight them here for the benefit of those who are new to mail2web.com and also for our long time users who may have questions or comments as to why we made these changes.
The New Homepage – you better believe it!
Since the inception of mail2web.com, we have embraced a minimalist approach as far as the homepage and religiously stuck to it. As the web site and the business behind it evolved, we started challenging this taboo and the rationale behind it. The challenges came first internally, and later externally when we sought opinions from trusted advisers and mail2web.com aficionados. To our surprise, we were met with responses like “what took you so long…” , “it’s about time…”, and “long overdue”. This set off a chain reaction that has led to a major breakthrough for mail2web.com.
Taking a step back, our rationale for seeking a change was primarily due to mail2web.com expanding its scope beyond the original mail2web Webmail service which millions around the world have embraced and made a part of their daily rituals. As some of you will remember, we have launched email services based on the Microsoft Exchange Email platform a few years back under the mail2web.com brand name and have been quietly promoting it. Based on the interest from the mail2web.com community and the traction we’ve got in the email services market, we’ve decided to pursue the Hosted Exchange email opportunity more aggressively. Positive feedback we’ve received externally coupled with our growing base of email customers, we thought it was time to give our email service its well deserved spot on the homepage right next to its older sibling, mail2web Webmail. And as they say, the rest is history!
From mail2web Live to mail2web Mobile Email
For the benefit of those of you who are new to mail2web.com, mail2web Live was the name of our Microsoft Exchange based email service we have been providing since 2006. As we were going through user testing, it became abundantly clear the mail2web Live name was creating confusion among the first time visitors to mail2web.com, or at best not communicating what the service is in an instant. At first, we contemplated dropping “Live” and just calling the service mail2web Email, which solved the confusion issue and clarified the service being offered. However, it wasn’t quite enough. We needed something more contemporary in the day and age of mobility; something that we thought would resonate better with the mail2web.com community. The next thing we knew, “mail2web Mobile Email” was born.
Old school, new school
We have kept the look and feel of the top navigation the same for our existing users whilst streamlining and consolidating content to fewer tabs. For our long time users who prefer the old homepage of mail2web.com, you can rest easy. The old login can be found at http://mail2web.com/login. The PDA and Chat logins are still at their old URLs, which can be found under the Webmail tab. Outlook web access (OWA) login page for mail2web Mobile Email customers (formerly known as mail2web Live) has also remained at the same URL: http://ex7.mail2web.com/live. The same goes for the OWA for domain based Hosted Exchange business customers: the login can be located at http://ex7.mail2web.com.
Last but not least, I’d like take this opportunity to shamelessly plug our new community portal at http://mail2web.com/help. This section of the web site has been built to serve you better and to give every member of the mail2web.com community a voice in the evolution of our services. Please take a moment to check out our blog, forums and ideas pages. Share your thoughts about the new look of mail2web.com, our services, your concerns, questions and ideas. We are listening and you can rest assured that every single opinion counts.
Thanks in advance for your continued support, and for spreading the word about the new mail2web.com!

We really prefer the centered log-in block.
It’s much easier to use when one has to log in with speed
which for us, must be done several times daily. Please
reconsider location. Thank you.

If you prefer the old layout for the mail2web Webmail login, you can go to http://mail2web.com/login/ to access your email account. Just change your bookmarks/favorites!

I have a giant problem. Last week, I think Thursday or Friday, somehow my entire inbox was just gone when I logged into my office email using mail2web. Now, today, just a minute ago, I logged on and it said it was empty again and now, it will not let me log back into my account because it says I am not entering the correct information. I fear something is terribly wrong. Can you help me?
PLEASE..this is diasterous for me. The email account listed above is my home account.

Hello Susan,
mail2web.com does not provider your email service, it only allows you to look at the email that is saved on your providers mail server. If you download your email through an email program at work or at home, then you will not see it from mail2web.com. Chances are that your email program is set to download and then delete your email. If you want to be able to see it from mail2web.com you will need to set your email program to not delete the email after it is downloaded. Also, if you are having trouble logging into your account please contact sbcglobal.net directly for assistance, as we do not control the mail server.
Hope this helps.

So, what happened to the question I asked a few days ago?
Ever since the change, I cannot log in–and I have changed nothing about my account. I get my email from my emailer host, but can no longer get it online through mail2web.
Any suggestions?

Some users were having trouble due to a changed redirect, which as a result the browsers password tool wasn’t filling in their information automatically. We reversed the change which should alleviate this issue. Could this be the case?
We have not made any changes to the functionality of mail2web.com and it is working as designed.

This is a very elementary question but one that has been a huge bother. Why does mail2web kick me out and I have to sign back on after only a few minutes? If I’m emailing a long post, or if I have to step away from my desk for just a couple of minutes, it says my session has ended and I have to re-sign on. This is a HUGE bother! Can this be rectified? Thank you.

We have an article in our Wiki which explains in more detail:
mail2web Webmail Session Timout
This can be an important feature, if you are on a public computer such as an internet cafe or airport, and forget to log out, the next person who sat down could have access to your account. At least with the time-out, it will expire your session if you have not been active in a little while.
Hope this helps,
Tim

Is there any way to either eliminate or minimize the blinking ads on the site. They block out some of the actual emails that we receive?
June 30th, 2009 at 10:51 am
Hi Cindy,
In response to your question, the mail2web Webmail service is free, and the use of ads allows us to earn some money to help pay for all the infrastructure that surrounds it. There is no way to remove the ads from the interface at this time.

This evening having returned home I checked my office e-mail and I had 7 messges. Later on I checked again and the 7 messages were not there. Of course I had one new message.
The problem is most probably the 7 messages are lost for ever. Last week also this happened and I thought when I open my mail from my office computer that lost messgaes will appear. It did not happen. I am not expecting to see these messgaes tomorrow morning!
Please advise! The whole purpose of mail2web is lost! If I lose my messgaes when I check my office mail from home.

Hi Sam,
I want to assure you that mail2web Webmail doesn’t delete any email unless you request it. If you set up your email account at the office in an email client (like Outlook Express or similar) to download by POP3, it could be set to delete the email after downloading. Most email client applications do this “by default”.
So if you read your email in an email client one place (and maybe leave it open to download new mail every so often), then later try to read your email from mail2web Webmail, they will appear to be gone. This is because your email client deleted them after it downloaded them.
I would recommend you check your email software settings and set it to “leave a copy of the email on the server”. This will allow you to read your email from anywhere all the time.
Thanks,
Tim

Is it possible to see any other folders (ie; sent, deleted etc) other than just your Inbox via mail2web??
August 4th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Hi Tim,
This is possible if your mail server supports IMAP4. mail2web Webmail will automatically try to connect using IMAP4 if it is available. IF your mail server only supports POP3, then you can only see your inbox.
Hope this helps.

Saludos.

Hello Mario,
Sorry, I do not speak Spanish, I have relied on a translation tool to try and understand your question. If I am correct, you are using mail2web Webmail? If this is so, it is likely that mail2web.com does not provide your actual email service, but only a web-based method of checking your email. I cannot explain why you are having trouble downloading your email to Outlook Express, you could try contacting your email provider for assistance. If you can see from accessing mail2web Webmail that there is email on your server, but Outlook Express does not download them, there could be an issue with your configuration settings.
Hope this helps.

I understand there may have been an issue on the server causing this. It has now been corrected so let us know if you still have trouble or contact your email provider to ensure you have the right settings.
