Solar powered phones may be the new trend of the mobile phone industry. Samsung is going to deliver the Blue Earth phone at the end of the October to the Swedish market. It has 900 / 2100 MHz 3G radio, HSDPA-equipped full touch handset with integrated solar charger. The Blue Earth will require around an hour under sunlight to charge for about 10 minutes of talk. The solar panels reside on the back along with a 3 megapixel camera, and the front is a full touch screen including GPS support. Its shell is made of recycled plastic water bottles and it even comes with an ‘eco walk’ function that uses a built-in pedometer to show you exactly how much your walking, instead of driving, reduces CO2 emissions. Unfortunately it isn’t available in the U.S., however will be shipped right after Sweden to Europe. As advocates of green technology, mail2web is fully supporting such environmental gadgets.
Here is the presentation video of Blue Earth.

i think it’s great that samsung is taking the initiative to develop eco-friendly phones. i don’t know how consumers will feel about having to charge phones for an hour to get only 10 minutes of power, though.
I can’t seem to find it available here. Please help me, any information will do: estimated release month here in Philippines..
I’d like to get a solar phone…as long as it’s proven as reliable as battery-powered phones.
