Amazon announced upgrades to the Kindle on Tuesday. The upgrades include a battery life boost by about 85% and a native PDF reader added. The battery extension seems huge; it’s equal to 7 days with wireless turned on. But the PDF reader saves the users the hassle of converting documents from the PDF format and even enables them to transfer PDF documents via their @kindle.com email addresses or via USB. You don’t have to buy any hardware to get this upgrade, if you own Kindle the 2.3 software update is now available for download and installation via USB tethering.

The battery upgrade was great. All tech products should have a battery life that long. I’d hate to be reading a suspenseful story at the beach only to have the power go out.

Yeah, the battery upgrade was a key factor for me when I decided to buy a Kindle.

I can’t even imagine how much time the native PDF reader has saved me.
