For the attention of iPhone users!

November 24th, 2009

iPhone and iPod Touch worms are getting more aggressive every day. Neowin is warning about a new generation of iPhone worm. This worm is not innocent as the Rick Astley worm.

The worm works by looking through user text messages for bank details and information.  The worm seems to have started in Holland with ING Bank users only, but could be easily modified to use other banks and countries to steal account credentials. The worm is spreading through users connected on the same WiFi hotspot.

Jailbroken users should change their default password from “alpine” by installing MobileTerminal.

  1. Enter MobileTerminal and enter “su root”
  2. Default password “alpine”
  3. Enter “passwd” and create a new password for your root
