There has been a lot of buzz around the Apple Tablet these past few months, mainly because the people at Apple kept all the info uber exclusive. Rumors and speculation bred rampantly over forums and blogs, nothing more than mere hearsay because nothing official had been released from the Apple camp… that is until today.
At an Apple product event, it was announced the rumored Apple tablet, called the iPad, does in fact exist and is to be expected in stores by July 2010. It will come with its very own app store and over 1,400 apps. You will be able to surf the web, read books, listen to music, watch video, paint, play, get directions, take notes, keep up to date with your calendar and contacts, and of course – pick up your email.
The Official Video
While the specs look very impressive, no word has been released as to whether it will support Exchange ActiveSync like the iPhone. Here’s what we do know: some of the information from the Apple.com specs page
See and touch your email in ways you never could before. In landscape, you get a split-screen view, showing both an opened email and the messages in your Inbox. To see the opened email by itself, you just turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large, on-screen keyboard, or delete messages, with nothing more than a tap and a flick. If someone emails you a photo, you can see it right in the message. You can also save the photos in an email directly to the built-in Photos app.

I wasn’t impressed by the iPad yesterday, however, it might be the perfect device for my wife or my mom. iPad maybe a hit after all.
Mac’s stellar iPad will soon grow after this initial pumped up launch during it’s launch. The A4 chip and Mac’s potential to fix hardware will help to make the iPad a success in for the forseeable future.
Lol – superbowl XLIV stream is that sarcasm I sense??
Filbert what do u think will be improved by the second generation?
Apple’s groovy innovation will soon evolve after the first push period during it’s unveiling. The touch screen and Apple’s potential to fix issues will help to make the iTablet a huge product in the futuire.
It seems like there is a recurring theme surrounding the latest apple products, the reliability has become second to developing the aesthetics and the battery-life problems still have not been solved, have Apple’s previous successes gone to their heads? Will the iPad be a slave to this?
I was just reading an interesting in-depth article on this topic here: http://bit.ly/bf2tXx which is certainly worth a browse. Personally I am a massive fan of apple products but I have been becoming increasingly more aware of the move towards style over substance.
Is it going to require some sort of data plan to operate though The whole 3g/wifi thing really throws me off because I associate 3g with phone companies and the hefty $40 usage fees that come with them for things like that
I was really excited about the cost at first but that would counteract it pretty quickly
I’m thinking of getting one of these for my online marketing business, but I’m not sure if I really need the 64GB model. Any thoughts?
I love the fact that you can do things like paint and read books on the iPad. It may or may not be a revolutionary piece of technology, but at least it is encouraging creativity.
