Camera Phones in Review

by RichC on July 21, 2010

Camera has become a basic part of a phone. When camera’s were introduced in phone, only a few camera handsets were sold and they too had VGA camera’s only. As the technology advanced, more powerfull camera’s were fitted by the manufacturers in the devices. Photography freaks now look for mobile phones that can fulfill both their needs, a phone and a professional camera.

Phones fulfill the need of professional cameras because phones are now available with upto 12 mega pixel of camera. 5 mega pixel camera has become very common and is quite handy to capture all the wonderful moments. Nearly all the brands have made plans to launch a phone with 12 mega pixel of camera. Having a hi tech camera in the phone has saved money of the users as earlier they had so buy both the things seperately which used to cost them a lot. Now they have best of both worlds in one small device. It’s even easier to share photos instantly via mobile email. Let’s take a look at some of the best camera phones in the market.

The Samsung AMOLED looks to be a camera first and then a phone. The 12 mega pixel phone has the best phone camera among the best phone camera’s in the market at the moment. The phone’s camera has stunning picture quality and also offers a 3x optical zoom. It looks like a camera first because of its camera like grip and the lens that comes out when you want to take a shot.

Sony Ericsson has also come up with their new Sony Ericsson Cybershot 12 MP camera phone. Sony has embedded a unique slider on the back side of the phone. The slider slides to reveal the camera and it also works as a protection for the lens. The camera phone will also get popular due to its trendy looks.

Users are not just looking for hi-tech camera’s in their phones. They want every good feature they can get within their price range. So, they also prefer some some phones with lower camera power like the Nokia X6 which has got a 5 mega pixel camera with 3x optical zoom. The full touch screen phone from Nokia has also got lot of popularity among the freaks and its 5 mega pixel camera gives really bright, clear and hi resolution pics.

Nokia’s N95 also featured a 5 mega pixel camera and was popular because of its looks and features. Brands have understood that offering just a hi-end camera with a simple phone won’t work. They are now trying to keep everything balanced and in reach of the common man in terms of affordability. So, the next time you buy a camera phone, just don’t look for the camera only and look around for all the features of the mobile phone.

Nokia’s phone is great. The way things are going, they’re gonna have to call them cell cameras instead of cell phones.

I guess if you’ve grown up w/ cell phones these cameras are no big deal, but I’ve got to say it makes me a little uncomfortable to know people can take a picture of me anytime they want.

I agree with the point made above re: lower camera power. I am def. willing to accept a phone w/ lower power in exchange for exciting features like zoom.
