We heard some rumors about Samsung’s latest LCD HDTV. The South Korean giant challenges Sony’s XEL-1 OLED TV and the Panasonic Z1 Plasma.

It is only 3mm thick! As far as we know, Samsungs new 40’’ LED backlit LCD HDTV will have 120Hz LCD panel, 1080p, 5000:1 contrast ratio.

<p>The HP DreamScreen moves digital photo frames to a whole new level and adds a brand new dimension to sharing your digital content, besides it sleek and stylish!</p>
<p>You can update your Facebook status, listen to Pandora Internet Radio or even watch videos. The HP DreamScreen has two different display sizes 10.2 inches and 13.3 inches.</p>
<p>Both units have built-in 6-in-2 card readers that accept CF and SD cards. It has 2 GB of built-in memory, black flush glass display, touch-enabled controls, Wi-Fi and social media hub and integrated speakers to listen to music.</p>
<p>The DreamScreen can support MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 and H.264 for video extensions and MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV for music. HP DreamScreen can be easily connected to your PC.  DreamScreen 100 is available today for $250, while the DreamScreen 130 is expected to be available on October 11.</p>

The response time is an amazing 0.004ms.</p>
<p>OLED displays with their high contrast, low response time, low energy use and outstanding color gamut have a great future if they can bring the cost down. </p>

<p>LG announces two new LCD TVs, models SL9000 and SL8000. They&#8217;re calling them borderless TVs in the sense that the front glass covers the entire surface area thus providing no sense of a boundary&#8230;at least when they&#8217;re off.</p>
<p>The SL9000 has a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio and is very thin at 2.9cm thanks to el-cheapo edge-lit LEDs. 100Hz refresh rate.</p>
<p>And model SL8000 reverts to CCFL for back lighting, so it&#8217;s thicker at 4.5cm and achieves a 150,000:1 contrast ratio. An outstanding 200Hz refresh rate.</p>
<p>Not pictured is un-borderless premium model LH9000 which boasts a 5,000,000:1 ratio thanks to being direct-lit with a full array of LEDs helped out by local dimming. This requires that the glasses be powered and have wireless connectivity to the TV or monitor. By contrast, most movie theater 3D is achieved via the much simpler polarization.</p>
<p>Sony has also produced an apparently unintentionally humorous documentary illutrating the many benefits and uses of being entertained in all three dimensions, following&#8230;</p>

<p>The model is called the Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR7 LCD TV and should be available in Dec 08.</p>
<p>While 240Hz should help those who perceive judder, suffer from photosensitive and pattern-sensitive epilepsy, or watch fast-action sports, most viewers might not notice the difference.</p>
<p>Other features for the 52XBR7 include: 1080p 52-inch screen, 9.9mm thick and a contrast ratio of 80,000:1.</p>

Although we&#8217;re leaning towards the former but hoping for the latter, all this may be irrelevant because improvements in LCD, LCD/LED, OLED and AMOLED displays keep whittling away at the SED advantages.</p>
