When you're on Twitter for business reasons, is it better to get as many followers as you can, even if that means adding a lot of strangers, or is it more profesisonal to only have people you've met in real life as followers?

It's probably best to get as many followers as you can. The more people you can spread the word to about your products/services, the better.

the thing about twitter is that it breaks down barriers -- you can reach out to just about anyone in a way you were never able to in the past. For example, I've had full twitter conversations with my mayor... thats huge.

But remember, its not about the number of followers u have, its about how many engaged followers you have, your influence over them, and their quality. Anyone can pay for a few thousand spam-bot followers, but how does that help your business and spreading its message?
