    Default new domain vs. new subdomain

    If you have a VPS hosted website, and you want to expand your online business, how do you decide whether you should get a new subdomain or a new domain? Is there a major advantage to one choice over the other?

    If it varies very far from the focus of the domain, use another domain. If it is a natural subtopic of your domain, a subdomain is fine.
