Default Syncing Outlook's Blocked Senders with Exchange?

    Hello,

I'm using Outlook 2007 on the desktop with Mail2Web's Exchange server. Works great.

While in Outlook, I will get SPAM that sneaks its way through the couple of layers of protection, and so I will add the sender's address or domain to Outlook's "Blocked Senders" list in the Junk Mail window.

I'm wondering, does this list sync with Exchange's list of Junk Senders? I notice Exchange's list has some of the one's I put in Outlook, but not others. Seems odd how the partial list made it but the most recent one's don't.

Maybe they sync on some schedule? I can see the list on the Exchange server when I log into OWA and open Settings/Junk mail.

    Thanks for any insight!
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

I believe this happens already, or it seems to have for one of my accounts. Although it looks like the list is sorted differently. This may explain why it looks different between Outlook and the OWA. For my account, all my blocked senders, safe senders and safe recipients were visible in the OWA from Options -> Junk Email.

I'm trying to confirm this with a little more authority though... I'll let you know what I find.

    Hi Jason,

I discussed this a bit more with one of our Exchange experts. If you have configured your mail2web Mobile Email Pro or Business Exchange Professional account in Outlook as an "Exchange Account", it will synchronize these lists with the exchange server.

If you have made recent entries, or are not configured as an Exchange account (but configured as a POP3 or IMAP4 account) this could explain why the lists are not identical.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Tim,

Thank you for your help. It seemed the last couple of days it was not syncing, but today it was syncing the lists in real-time!

It's so nice to be able to have one place to enter blocked addresses (or create blocking scripts) as well as have a single junk-mail folder I can share across my desktop and iPhone. I used to always dread having to handle junk-mail in two different ways across devices.

I would suggest you guys promote that to mobile users who may not realize Exchange has that ability.

    Thanks again!
    Jason
