    Default iPhone Contacts Missing 'Type Of Email Field'

    Hi

    A contact in Exchange/Outlook can have 3 email fields; Email1, Email2 & Email3.

    I can choose to sync my Mail2Web Exchange contacts in two ways;
    1 - over the air (i.e. configure the iPhone to sync Exchange Contacts) or
    2 - via iTunes iPhone Sync (which then takes them from the contacts stored in the cached exchange mode in Outlook).

    My problem...

    If I sync my contacts using method 2 everything seems to work okay, in so far that when editing/creating an email address of a contact on the iphone I also get the opportunity to classify it as Home, Work or Other. This is ideal as I can clearly see on the iphone what email is what when a contact has multiple email addresses. It seems that on syncing with iTunes, Work becomes Email1, Home becomes Email2 and Other becomes Email3.

    However, if I sync my contacts over the air using method 1 I do not get the option when editing or creating a contact to classify email addresses. If a contact has 3 emails addresses, whereas above their type is shown, with exchange no type is shown... just the 3 email addresses so it becomes impossible to know what is what.

    Is this an issue with how ActiveSync is configured. Can it be resolved?

    Ade

    It looks to me like this may be how Exchange handles Email in contacts as entering them in Outlook has the same limitation. I cannot see a way to specify otherwise presently.

    Anyone know if the updates to either Outlook or Exchange will get rid of this limitation?
