    Default Outlook 2003 with Live Pro

    My netbook already has Office 2003 (including Outlook) installed, and I would prefer to stick with this version as it seems to be a bit lighter on resources than the 2007 version. So, is it possible to use Outlook 2003 with the Live Pro service? I can only find instructions for Outlook 2007 in my Control Panel.

    Thanks,
    Ian

    Hi Ian,

    Yes Outlook 2003 will work fine. If you go to your control panel, under "Outlook Configuration" and select "Automatically Configure your copy of Outlook 2007" then scroll down the page to "Outlook Configuration Script Instructions", you can use this to configure Outlook 2003 for your account.

    You can also follow the manual configuration steps for Outlook 2007 that are here:

    Some screens might look slightly different (such as the 3rd one on the page), but for the most part things are very similar or almost identical.

    Let us know if you hit any roadbumps!

    How much longer do you think Microsoft will continue to support Outlook 2003?

    @tim
    Thanks for the tip - I used the automated script method and was off and running in a few minutes! Well done mail2web for making it so easy

    @KorbinD
    Take a look at this page for Microsoft's support lifecycle for Outlook 2003.

    Thanks,
    Ian

    I've really never heard any great complaints against Outlook.
