Disallowed Usernames?

When I first tried to sign up for the mail2web forums, I selected the username "David" but a message popped up stating that the username was already taken. So I tried the username "DavidB", but was again told that the username was already taken. Hmmmmn. . . .

I was surprised that a relatively new forum, with not many members, would already have users who had taken my first choice of usernames.

So I took the username "DavidB52".

However, when I did a search for users whose username is "David" or "DavidB", no such users were found. What is going on? Are certain usernames simply disallowed?

Our community and our mail2web.com services share the same namespace. So even though our community base is still growing, existing mail2web.com customers can log into the community with their existing mail2web.com username, without signing up.

So this means that the usernames you tried to register are already taken by mail2web.com users, even though they might not have visited the community yet.

Yeah, it's real hard to get a common name as your user name on any online service. I've tried it on several sites before, with no luck.

Can you try putting a period in between a first name and last initial, like Bob.S if BobS is unavailable?
