Default Why doesn't it delete messages!!!???

I delete messages here at the office; yet, when I log into my office email through mail2web, ALL the messages I've deleted show up. That's why I now have 4,000+ mostly spam messages in my web2mail inbox. If I delete a message on my office server, how does mail2web know about it at all -- let alone display it months after it was deleted? Is there some mysterious server in cyberspace that retains all messages of everybody in the whole world, permanently?

Conversely, I hesitate to "delete all messages" in the mail2web cache, because I fear deleting important messages I wish to retain on the server at my office. Will it delete them or not? (Testing this has given me inconsistent results.):

    Hi There,

What kind of email server do you have at your office? Or maybe you didn't empty your "Deleted Items", meaning they aren't fully deleted yet.

Our mail2web Webmail can only see emails that are on the server, which makes me think that when you "Delete" at the office, they are not actually being deleted from your mail server, since mail2web.com cannot see emails that aren't there!

    Tim,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm home now and can't answer your first Q. However, I know the difference between deleting an email and emptying the deleted message folder. I do the latter every couple days. Your confirmation that mail2web can't find messages that are NOT on my server makes eminent sense. I think we have entered the twilight zone.

But what about my second Q? Can I delete everything in the cache and be assured I am not deleting important stuff from my server at the office?

mail2web Webmail will access your email server directly. So anything you delete using mail2web.com will be deleted directly from the mail server.

If you did not download the email in any other email client, you likely will not be able to retrieve it after deleting it.

I would suggest that you check your email client settings at work. How is it configured to get your email? Does it download a copy and leave a copy on the server? Most POP3 email clients will have a setting to "Remove from server when I empty my deleted items".
