On Friday we reported some issues around phishing attempts against mail2web.com users. The phishing scam requested that mail2web.com users email their username and password to a websupport@mail2webmaster.com.
We have now received further reports of phishing emails sent that appear to be from “info@mail2web.com”. The email indicates that your account has been deactivated and asks you to run an attached utility in order to restore your mailbox. The attached file is in fact a malware utility which may be used to compromise your account.
As before, we recommend that all mail2web.com users exercise extreme caution when it comes to such notification emails. We will never ask you to email us your password, and we will never instruct you to run such a utility to restore your account.
If you receive any emails of this nature, please err on the side of caution and report it to abuse@mail2web.com or contact us at 1-877-MAIL2WEB before following any instructions.
If you have fallen victim to one of these phishing attempts, please contact us for further assistance.

It has come to our attention that phishing scam emails are being sent out suggesting that users send their login details including passwords to websupport@mail2webmaster.com. Remember that mail2web will never send requests like this nor would any other legitimate website. Should you be prompted by email to send this kind of personal information you should report the request immediately. You can always reach us at abuse@mail2web.com to report these kinds of issues and we take them all very seriously.
We have already taken the time to submit this sender for blacklisting throughout the web but it’s always a good idea to be extra cautious so we thought a posting in this regard would be beneficial to our users.
As always my mail2web friends, mail safe!

The scheduled maintenance for tonight has been updated to include the work that was originally scheduled for last night. This means that there will be intermittent outages for shared hosting web sites and our Virtual Server customers. The originally planned work for the mail systems is also still being done tonight so as expected there will be some outage for this as well. If you have any questions please contact support at support@mail2web.com.

I wanted to let everyone know that during the maintenance that we’re doing this weekend to finish up the move to the Data Center our support phone system will also be temporarily off line. The outage with the phone system will not be affected by tonight’s maintenance but it will be impacted by the work being done on Saturday evening. If you need to get in touch with support during this time please send an email to support@mail2web.com and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.

We wanted to let you know that the final step in finishing the Data Center move is occurring this weekend. This will involve severing all network ties to the old Data Center. During this transition there will be some downtime for all of our servers.
During the evening of Friday October 23rd starting at 9PM EDT we will be switching all our shared web hosting servers. This maintenance window is expected to last until midnight but all services won’t be down for the whole time. We will be performing the networking changes on several servers at a time and bringing them back online before we move onto the next batch. This means that sometime during this maintenance window access to your websites won’t be possible.
On Saturday October 24th we will also be making some changes to several other servers that will impact some of your services with us . Most notably this will cause a disruption in your email (Exchange / POP3/ IMAP) services. Please note that no messages will be lost during the downtime. They will be queued for delivery once the mail system is back up and running. The maintenance window for Saturday will begin at 6PM and is also expected to last until roughly midnight.
Once these two maintenance windows are over the move from the old Data Center to the new one will be complete. To read more about the move coming to an end please check out our blog. We apologize for any inconvenience that this move may caused over the past month. If you have any questions please contact support at support@mail2web.com.

Over the past month we’ve been moving our servers to a new Data Center. The move is nearing completion but there are a few more things that need to be moved. One of the things that still needed to be moved was the system that handles everyone’s email. We confirmed the date for that move and a few weeks ago I sent out an email notice to let everyone know that it would be on Saturday October 17th between 12:30AM EDT and 9:30AM EDT. I wanted to remind everyone of this date and make sure you all knew that this will affect all Exchange and POP3 services. During the time frame for the move all email being sent to your email addresses will be queued for delivery. Once the system is back online in our new Data Center all of those messages will be delivered to you. No email will be lost but you won’t be able to access your mailboxes until after the move is complete. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause and I thank you for your patience during this time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@mail2web.com.

As a valued customer we wanted to take a moment to let you know about some upcoming changes that might impact your service with us. Over the next few weeks we will be moving all of our servers and infrastructure to our new Data Center. Our new carrier-grade facility comes with a number of added benefits, which will directly correspond to even better service and reliability. The primary improvements include:
• A Larger Space to better house our growing infrastructure
• Improved access to carrier grade network providers
• Even better environmental service levels
• Access to a fully upgraded network infrastructure
We have scheduled all the maintenance during times where the interruption should have a lesser impact, during the late evening and very early morning (Eastern Time Zone, GMT- 4). Please note that during the migration period your email or SharePoint site will be inaccessible. We estimate the downtime per site will be approximately 1 to 2 hours.
You will receive an email notification as to when your specific migration date will be. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@mail2web.com.
