Import Contacts into mail2web
From mail2web.com Wiki
How do I use a CSV file to import contacts?
Answer:
You can either manually create a CSV file in a text editor, or you can export contacts from Outlook Express or from Outlook to a CSV file.
To manually create a CSV file:
A CSV (comma separated value) file can be created using a text editor such as Notepad. The CSV file needs to be in the following format:
John,Stuart,Mill,john@hotmail.com,555-1234
Harriet,Taylor,Mill,harriet@hotmail.com,555-5678
That is, each new contact entry has to be on the same line, and each piece of information (e.g., name, email address, phone number) must be separated from one another by a comma:
INFOcommaINFOcommaINFOcommaINFO
INFOcommaINFOcommaINFOcommaINFO
For each contact, you can have entries for a first name, a middle name, a last name, a nickname, a work phone number, a home phone number, a cell phone number, a fax number, an email address, and an alternative email address:
FIRST,MIDDLE,LAST,NICK,WORK#,HOME#,CELL#,FAX#,EMAIL,EMAIL_OTHER
At this point it does not matter what order you write them in, but the order must be consistent for all contact entries (e.g., the order you put the information for your first contact in must be the same as the order of the information of your second contact). Also, you do not need to have entries for all of the available fields. You can simply choose to put a first name and email address ("alex,alex@hotmail.com"). However, all of the contacts must have the same number of entries. To make a blank entry, just don't type anything between two commas.
Once you've finished entering all of your contact information, the file should be saved as "contacts.csv". If you used a word processor such as Microsoft Word, be sure to save it in "Plain Text (.txt)" format.
Your CSV file may look something like the following:
How to import the CSV file to mail2web.com:
To import the CSV file, you must go to your control panel at https://support.mail2web.com and log into your account. Click on Free Services, then mail2web.com Personal Webmail and then My Address Book. Once you are in the contact list section, click the Import (CSV Format) link.
You will then need to select the CSV that is on your computer by pressing the Browse button. Once you've selected it, the file path will appear in the field to the left. Click the Upload button.
The "contacts.csv" file is then uploaded to your customized mail2web.com account. The next step that needs to be done is to associate each column with the correct type using the drop-down menus at the top of each column.
If the columns don't match up with one another, it is likely that you didn't use the same number of "match type" entries for each contact, or that you wrote them in different orders. If you do not associate a column with a match type, the information in that column will not be included in the contact.
Any entry that isn't check-marked in the first column will be omitted from your contact list.
If you check-mark "Delete existing contacts," all of the contacts in your previous contact list will be deleted.
After all the columns have been matched to a data type, press the Next button to upload the contacts you've selected in the CSV file. They will then appear in your contact list.
Only first names, middle names, last names, nick names, and email addresses will be displayed on this page. Phone and fax numbers will not be displayed unless you click on the individual contact link.
