Top 10 Questions about mail2web Webmail
From mail2web.com Wiki
- Can mail2web Webmail be used to change your password?
No, mail2web Webmail is an email retrieval application that doesn't store passwords nor can it change passwords. Password changes can only be done by the administrator or company that originally provided your email account.
- Email is appearing in my email client at home (Outlook, Eurdora etc.) but when I log into mail2web Webmail I have nothing in my inbox. Why is this happening?
When you enter your email address and password into mail2web Webmail it attempts to log into your email server to view messages that haven't been retrieved. Most email clients, if left open and running on your PC, automatically retrieve new messages, and download them from your mail server. For this reason, when mail2web Webmail accesses your account, nothing appears, because the new messages have already been downloaded to your PC.
If you want to be able to view emails from both mail2web Webmail and your other email program, you can set it to leave a copy of your email on the server, or to not delete your emails after they are downloaded.
- When I try to log into mail2web Webmail I keep getting the message "Login Error", why is this?
There could be a few reasons. First, your password may have been entered incorrectly. Please try again. If that doesn't work and you have confirmed your password with your email provider, you may need to use the advanced login. Some email servers require more information, including the Server Name or I.P. address, before they will allow mail2web Webmail to access your email account.
- How do I view email messages that I have sent?
Currently this is not available through mail2web Webmail. Because mail2web Webmail is only accessing your account for the time you log in, it has no ability to keep track of the messages you have sent and make a record of them.
We also provide our own email service called mail2web Mobile Email which will allow you to view all your emails and sent items from the web interface or your mobile phone. You can also use mail2web Mobile Email to recieve or collect email from all your old email accounts. For more information please visit our mail2web Mobile Email web site.
- Is there a way to get rid of the advertising on mail2web Webmail?
No, mailweb.com is a free service and as such we need the revenue from advertising to help pay for the operation of this service. No advertisements are sent with any emails either drafted or replied to using mail2web.com except for a signature line at the bottom of each email stating.
If you are interested in a ad-free email service from mail2web.com you can try mail2web Mobile Email which will allow you to view all your emails from an ad-free web interface.
- Can mail2web Webmail be used to check any email address?
mail2web Webmail can be used to check most email addresses, however, some email servers do not allow remote access. In those cases you may get an error telling you "login failed". Also, some email services use proprietary mail protocols that are not supported by mail2web Webmail
- If my email provider requires that I enter a server name each time I log in (using the advanced login), do I need to enter it every time?
No, all you need to do is create a Free Personal Webmail account. This will allow you to save your server settings (not your password or any other private information) so the next time you log in to your personal home page, you will not need to enter your server settings again.
- Can I use mail2web Webmail to check more than one account at a time?
Yes, you can check as many accounts as you like. For your convenience you can also get a Personal Webmail that will allow you to store the settings for multiple email accounts.
We also provide an email service called mail2web Mobile Email which will allow you to consolidate all of your email accounts into one email account like your-name@mail2web.com. This can be done by forwarding your email to your mail2web Mobile Email account, or using our features to automatically download your email for you periodically. For more information please visit our mail2web Mobile Email web site.
- Sometimes I get the message "Incorrect User Name and Password" when I click on a message and I'm already logged in. Why?
The problem may have to do with a restriction on some email servers that only allows one connection at a time. When you log into mail2web Webmail, the first page it displays is list page of the most recent email in your inbox. If you click on a message link to view that message - before the page has fully loaded - you may be creating a second connection which it communicates back to the mail2web.com system as a failed login attempt. To avoid this please make sure to allow the list page to completely load before viewing an individual message.
- Does mail2web Webmail have any anti-spam or anti-virus filtering options?
No, currently mail2web Webmail does not offer that feature, however it can be very useful for deleting SPAM and otherwise unwanted emails. Remember, mail2web Webmail is not an email client but rather an email retrieval application. Anti-spam and anti-virus filtering is something your email provider probably offers.
